End-to-end encrypted conversations, without the friction
ShaT is an end-to-end encrypted conversation workspace for individuals, teams and circles who need a private place to talk — without signups, account harvesting or surveillance. Open a room, share the link, and you’re ready. Drop in up to 5 attachments (250 MB each) alongside the conversation. Every room self-destructs on the timer you choose — from one hour up to thirty days for members signed in with Epilda, or open-ended for Epilda Circle hosts.
Zero-knowledge by design
Every message is end-to-end encrypted on your device before it leaves the browser. The encryption key is generated locally and shared with members through the room link itself — the platform stores only opaque ciphertext and cannot decrypt your conversation under any circumstances.
Member-locked rooms
Set a member cap from two up to fifty — or up to two hundred and fifty for hosts signed in with Epilda. Once the cap is reached the room locks automatically. Each member receives a randomly-assigned pseudonym they can refresh at any time.
Why people choose ShaT
- No signup, no email gate. Open the workspace, mint a room, share the link.
- True zero-knowledge. The platform cannot read your conversation, full stop — not under subpoena, not by mistake, not ever.
- Self-destructing by default. Choose a lifetime; when the timer reaches zero the entire room and every message in it is gone.
- Attachments inside the conversation. No more bouncing between three apps — the whole exchange lives in one encrypted envelope.
- Twenty-six polished themes. Led by the signature Epilda luxury black & gold palette and a full Sanctuary collection.
- Business-grade reliability. Predictable retention windows and integrity-checked attachments on every transfer.
Open a room in under a minute
- Open the workspace and choose Open a secret room.
- Pick a lifetime (one hour to twenty-four hours on the standard tier, or up to thirty days for Epilda members) and an optional member cap.
- Hit Mint secret room. The browser generates a fresh encryption key locally.
- Copy the room link — the link itself carries everything members need to join and decrypt.
How the encryption protects you
When you mint a room your browser generates a fresh symmetric encryption key on the device. That key never leaves your browser; it travels to other members only inside the room link, which the browser keeps local and never transmits to the platform. Every message is sealed with that key on the sender’s device and unsealed on the recipient’s device. Between the two, the platform sees only opaque ciphertext — no message contents, no attachment contents, no member identities beyond the pseudonyms each member chooses.
Frequently asked questions
Is ShaT free to use?
Yes. ShaT is free for everyday business and personal use, with no advertising and no third-party tracking. Sign in with Epilda to unlock the Circle tier — extended lifetimes, larger member caps and team-scoped invites.
How is the conversation protected?
Every message is end-to-end encrypted in your browser before it leaves your device. The encryption key is generated locally and shared with members through the room link itself — the platform stores only opaque ciphertext and cannot decrypt your conversation under any circumstances.
Do I need to create an account?
Never on the standard tier. Open a room and share the link — that is the entire workflow. Members signed in with Epilda gain Circle-tier benefits, but the standard experience remains account-free.
How long does a secret room remain active?
You choose the lifetime when you mint the room — anywhere from one hour to twenty-four hours on the standard tier, or up to thirty days for members signed in with Epilda. Epilda Circle hosts can run open-ended community rooms. When the timer reaches zero the entire room and every message in it is destroyed.
Can I limit who joins a room?
Yes. Set a member cap from two up to fifty — or up to two hundred and fifty for hosts signed in with Epilda. Once the cap is reached the room locks automatically and additional people are politely turned away.
Can I share files inside a conversation?
Yes — up to 5 attachments per message, 250 MB each on the standard tier (2 GB each for Epilda members). Attachments are delivered alongside the encrypted conversation with the same integrity guarantees.
What does ShaT know about me or my members?
Effectively nothing. ShaT runs no analytics platforms, no advertising pixels and no third-party tracking. A single first-party preference cookie remembers your theme and tracker-blocker setting; nothing about your conversations or your identity is stored.
What does signing in with Epilda unlock?
The Circle tier — longer (or open-ended) rooms, the two-hundred-and-fifty-member cap, larger attachment ceilings, and the ability to invite an entire Epilda Circle into a room with a single link. The standard tier still works fully without it; Epilda is purely additive.
What themes are included?
Twenty-six themes, led by the signature Epilda luxury black & gold palette and the full Sanctuary collection — Sage Sanctuary, Lotus Bloom, Zen Garden, Celestial and Amber Temple — alongside polished classics for every working environment.
